Merry Christmas 2016!

25th December only means one thing... ITS CHRISTMAS!
The one day that pretty much everyone has been counting down to is finally here!

I'm not going to do a normal post that I would usually have for you as I know you will most probably be a little busy with your own family as will I. I just wanted to say Merry Christmas and hope you have a wonderful day with your family today or maybe even boxing day.

All will be back to normal next week and I will have my 2016 summary for you with some of my favourite highlights from the year.

I hope you all have a lovely day and see you next week!

Things to Do: Christmas Edition

Only 1 more week until Christmas Day and I have reached my 100th post!
Wondering how to pass the time? I gathered a few ideas to that everyone can do.

Christmas Markets
Almost every city has their own form of a Christmas market. Some will have lots of stalls, others with an ice rink and some even have fun little rides and games to keep the kids (and sometimes even the adults) entertained. I find that there is something quite special about walking round the markets with the smell of food around and looking at all the quirky gifts with a lovely hot chocolate to keep warm

Festive Baking
It has become a tradition in my family to make our own sausage rolls. We do cheat a little as we buy the just roll pastry to save time, but they taste amazing! They are the best when they have just come out of the oven and are lovely and warm. However, you do not have to make sausage rolls. I often make cookies as a little treat for people to have when they come and visit. I'm hoping to make some Christmas themed sugar cookies this coming week with a few festive designs.

Christmas Decorations
One of the easiest things to do would be to make some decorations. These can be put around the house or simply just for your bedroom to help you feel in the festive spirit. One year, I make snowflakes from paper and decorated the window with them. There are endless creations that can be made!

These are just a few ideas to help the days pass by and I hope they've been helpful if you were looking for something to do.

What have you done to help you get into the festive spirit?

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed

Christmas Wish List 2016

I can't quite believe that this time in 2 weeks, it will be Christmas day! I find that the older I get, the less I am after/ask for. However I managed to make a little list of the things I'd like to open.

I feel like this year, Makeup Geek products have become more popular and have been given a good and thorough test. I have picked out a few shades which are Grandstand, Shimma Shimma and In The Spotlight. I chose a couple from the foiled range and then a few from the standard shadow range. I have also asked for one of their palettes so that the shadows are together and I can create my own little palette.
I know this is a bit of a pointless one but there's always something on ASOS that will hang around in your saved list for a while but you always seem to put off buying it. I thought that by having the voucher, it makes it more of a present and gives me an excuse to buy some of those items that have been catching my eye every time I go to the site.

As I am going to London for my birthday, I wanted to go and see a show. At the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory is on. This was on the first films I remember watching the whole way through on Christmas night so I am really looking forward to going and having the tickets as part of my Christmas present.

I hope that this may have given you some ideas for your list or as a gift for someone else.

What's on your list this year?

Countdown to Christmas: Advent Calendars 2016

Seeing as pretty much everyone os on the countdown to Christmas, I thought I would try and link in a post. There seems to be an advent calendars that caters for everyone. Whether is makeup related, chocolate, skincare or even if its for your pet. Iv'e decided to gather a few different calendars that I wouldn't mind having.

This is definitely on the price side as it retails at £150! There are 12 products inside which include a fair amount of her bestselling products. I normally prefer to have my calendar to take me right the way through December but I think you are able to get a good variety of products to try for the money before buying the full sized product.

Sticking with the theme of beauty, I saw this NYX calendar for £60 and instantly wanted to buy it! There are a wide range of colours included in the calendar for both lip cremes and eye shadows. It allows you to experiment with different colours and have shades that you wouldn't necessarily choose.

If this isn't the advent calendar of dreams that I can't really picture what is?! There is so much of a variety from fragrance to skincare to makeup which is basically a beauty lovers dream! The products come in little miniature sizes for you to try. I really love the concept of trying different products from different brands yet all being from the same calendar.

If like me, you're wanting to take a more traditional chocolate calendar, I would highly recommend to Dairy milk. The quality is so much better than some of the similar priced calendars. I'm really enjoying my calendar so far but one of the major downfalls is that it doesn't have a door/chocolate for Christmas day (which is what I like to see).

What type of advent calendar do you have?

3 Gift Ideas - Beauty Related

As next week we will be in December, I am sure many people will have either started to gather presents or will be starting very shortly. I did a post a couple of weeks ago talking about ideas that were non-beauty related for those people who aren't necessarily interested in beauty or fancied just getting something different for a change. This week, I thought about doing a beauty related post for those people who wanted an idea for people interested in makeup.

Zoeva - Rose Golden Brush Set
I cannot rave about these brushes any more than I currently do. I put these on my list and was lucky enough to have these bought for me as a present. They are the softest brushes I own and they are used on a daily basis. I love the finish they give due to the quality being amazing! Any makeup/beauty lover is more than likely going to need a decent set of brushes and these make a perfect present.

MAC - Nutcracker Collection
What is more unique that a limited edition product? MAC often have at least one limited edition collection running over Christmas and this year it happens to be the 'Nutcracker'. All of the products in this collection are beautiful and couldn't get a more fitting product if they tried.

Becca X Jaclyn Hill- Champagne Pop
Im pretty sure the majority of beauty lovers either have this product or will have this on their list this year. It is a gorgeous highlight and one that will get people talking. This product has fast become a staple in everyone's collection so why miss out?

I hope you found this useful!

Jess Glynne - Take Me Home Tour

As you may have seen on Twitter, I went to see Jess Glynne last night at the Genting Arena in Birmingham for her opening night of the 'Take Me Home Tour'.

Me and my Mum decided that we were going to make a day of being in Birmingham so went for a shopping trip beforehand to the Bullring. It was a pretty successful trip and managed to cross a few people off the Christmas list (which is always a bonus!) The Bullring had all of the Christmas decorations up as well as a tree outside of the church adding to the Christmas spirit. A girly day isn't complete without a meal so we decided to go to Jamie's Italian as I could get perks with being a gold club member. Dinner was lovely as always and service was pretty quick to say the restaurant was full.

We both decided that we were going to go to the Arena later on and miss all the rush when the gates opened as we had seated tickets. Our seats were in block 13 so we were a fair distance back from the stage but could still workout who was who on stage. There were big screens to the side which helped you to see a lot better.

The set was full of energy and Jess really got the crowd going with a few call and response sections. She also explained the reason behind her 'Take Me Home' song and how she was going through a really hard time and her best friend (who is also the creative director) helped her through it so she decided to write a song all about it.

The whole day was amazing but the night really topped it off and would definitely go and see her again!

Have you been to the Bullring before? Are you a fan of Jess Glynne?

3 Gift Ideas - Non-Beauty Related

I feel as though it is now acceptable to talk about Christmas seeing as the John Lewis Christmas ad is out. Every year, I am asked to make a list with a few ideas that I may like for both Christmas and my birthday. Despite that the majority of the list has beauty products on, I do try to put down some non-beauty related ideas to try and mix things up.

Theatre Tickets
One of the first ideas this year for me is theatre tickets. I really enjoy seeing Christmas pantos and it is the only time that I tend to go. However, I will be in London for my birthday and I am planning to try and see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory so have asked for tickets to see the show.

Day Trips
There are many places I would still love to visit in the UK so why not plan a little visit? If you know someone that already has everything then why not book to go somewhere and treat them to train tickets or an entry ticket somewhere so that they definitely know that they are going as a little surprise for them.

DIY Gift
You don't have to spend a load of money trying to get a great present. A personal and unique gift is likely to be more meaningful and better appreciated if you have put time aside to actually make something. This could include a scrapbook of photos with both you and them in it and make it really personal to them.

Have you already started to plan what you are getting friends and family or have you actually started buying?

Catfish and The Bottlemen - Derby Arena

If you were here back in July, you would known that I saw Catfish at Castlefield Bowl in Manchester. It was such an amazing experience and so unique! Last night, I was lucky enough to see them for a second time at Derby Arena.

It was very different to Castlefield as that was outdoors whereas this was in an arena but they certainly didn't disappoint! Everyone was constantly involved and singing along. The support act for this tour are July Talk and they were something alright. I have to admit, I was left speechless and had to question a few times what I was actually witnessing.

I really enjoyed the night and the music and would most definatly want to see them again elsewhere such as abroad maybe?

Have you ever seen Catfish and The Bottlemen? Have you heard of their music?

NYX Dewy Finish Makeup Setting Spray Review

I only started using setting sprays just over a year ago after I discovered the L'Oréal Fixing Mist. I can't rave about this product more as it keeps your makeup lasting much longer than it would by just using a powder. I have combination skin so struggle to keep my skin from looking greasy as well as avoiding dry patches in certain areas. The only problem with it is that it has to be shaken quite a few times to help the powder dissolve into the liquid preventing the 'white spots' that some people get.

I was given a pamper bag by Holly with a few treats inside. One of them was the NYX Setting Spray and I had actually been eyeing this up because I was so impressed with the L'oréal mist and wanted to see how different brands differed. This doesn't need shaking but I do it anyway due to habit. I mist it over my face and waft it dry to help it dry quicker. It leaves a glowy finish on my face helping my makeup to look more natural. (The other mist can look a little matte for a but before my skin's natural 'glow' begins to come through.) However, this doesn't last as long as my other mist but it does make my makeup last longer than it would with just powder which is a great bonus!

Overall, I would recommend this product if you love a good glow and want more natural looking makeup rather than matte if you have dry skin.

Have you tried setting sprays or fixing mists before? If so, what did you think to them?

3 Favourites about Autumn/Winter

In the UK, the colder weather has certainly begun! I don't really cope well in colder months. I am the first one to get cold and my dressing gown doesn't leave me at all! However, there are a few things that I do enjoy about these seasons.

1. Clothing
I feel that in Autumn/Winter it is more appropiate to wear comfy clothing such as baggy jumpers layered with anything you choose as long as it is comfy. I really love the changing colours and this is definitely reflected in clothing. I look forward to going shopping and buying new pieces.

2. Blankets and Dressing Gowns
More often than not, I will be wearing my dressing gown as soon as I have walked through the door. I literally live in it. I love the feeling of being all cosy and snug. I will also grab my blanket out when watching TV so that I can really snuggle up and not be cold.

3. Makeup
As cliché as it sounds, I really enjoying experimenting more a little with makeup in the colder months. I find that you can be a little more intense than you can with Summer. I don't tend to wear much makeup in the Summer as I find it doesn't last very long so don't see the point in putting the effort in for it not to last.

Do you have any favourites in Autumn/Winter?

A Trio of Top Eye Products

I hardly wear any eye products in the day as I am either just nipping out or I am at college so don't see the point in putting in the effort. However, if I am going out for a meal or going shopping, I will put in the effort but it is still limited. I thought I'd make a post sharing 3 of my favourite products that I use.

I apply this with a flat brush as I hate the feeling of product on my fingers and by using a brush, I can be more precise and add more pigmentation. I then blend this out using the Real Techniques Domed Shadow Brush.

This was one of the first few MAC products that I owned and still love it! I either apply this on its own if I am trying to hurry up or I will apply On and On Bronze and then this over the top to give a more golden look rather than bronze.

If I am feeling super lazy or just want to highlight certain areas on my eyes, I will use this. I will apply this all over my lid and in the corner of my eye for a simple yet classic look. If I decide I want add to an overall look, I will apply this in the centre of my lids too add highlight.

Do you have any products that you use on a regular basis?

Random Favourites

L'Oreal Paris Pure Clay Detox Mask

I have really been loving this mask! It helps to calm down nay redness in my face and reduces and blemishes that have appeared. The price of the mask is really affordable at only £8 but Boots often have it on offer for £5.

(click here for skincare routine!)

I bought my boots around 2 months ago in preparation for the colder weather from Matalan. I decided to go for the suede option as I prefer the more matte look as opposed to the leather. I have been wearing them everyday as they are so comfy and makes an outfit look a little more put together rather than wearing trainers. However, I can't find them on the site but these boots from Tesco are ver similar.

I saw Holly a little over a week ago and she kindly gave me a bag with different products in for me to have. I didn't waste any time when it came to trying out the oil. My hair is a blonde ombré so can look dull and dry fairly often if I have been using my straighteners fairly often. As soon as I saw this I put a few pumps into my hands and applied it to the bottom half if my hair. I was surprised that the oil wasn't really thick and sticky and was amazed by how good it smelt! I have really noticed how glossy, smooth and healthy my hair is looking as so have other people. I would highly recommend this product! (I believe they have changed the name and packaging but do double check first)

I not a typical hot drink person. If someone was to ask me if I wanted a drink, it would 99% be water. I have never really been interested in tea but one thing I drink in the winter is hot chocolate. I like coffee but only in a small amount. I was walking around Tesco trying to find a new tub of hot choc when I found these sachets of mocha. It's basically hot chocolate and coffee mixed together. I have been obsessed! I try not to have them too often as too much of it isn't great but I see it as a nice treat for yourself when you're feeling a little low on energy (which is quite often for a student) or just to warm you up.

I have been wearing glasses for the past 2 years (or at least I was suppose to). I recently had an eye test and one of my eyes has gotten worse which meant I needed to have a new pair of glasses. I chose the 'Cherry' glasses with the anti glare tint because they will be used for driving and computers. I picked them up on Friday and feel as if everything is now in HD, it's great!

My lips get really dry in the winter as I am sure most other people suffer with the same problem. To help this, I have been putting my trusty Carmex on as well as mixing in one of the Soap and Glory Gloss Sticks that I got a few years ago for a pop of colour and extra moisture.

What have your favourites been recently?

Sephora Sheet Mask - Green Tea

Back in July when I was in Italy, my skin was feeling a little dry as I was using a different sun cream for my face and sitting in the sun didn't help. In the local town was a Sephora, so of course I had a little look around. It was only a small shop so there wasn't much to choose from. However, what I did find were some sheet face masks. Pretty much everyone is using a sheet face mask and wanted to try it for myself. I picked up 4 but have only recently given the green tea mask (this one) a try as my skin had a few blemishes going on.

This mask has been designed to target blemishes and oily skin. It is really simple to follow the instructions as you simply tear the bottom off and pull out the mask. There is a pink layer attached to help keep the product in the sheet but you simply peel this off and apply to your face. Et voila! I was really surprised as to how much product was in the packet and how much was on the mask as I was getting everywhere. I left the mask for 15 minutes and peeled the mask off. The instructions said to massage the remaining product into the skin and let it soak in.

It was a really simple process and I wasn't left with excess mask on my face as I could use it as a moisturiser. My skin felt refreshed and my skin looked calmer which was a bonus!

I will be trying the other masks that I bought to see how they compare and will give an update once they've been tested.

3 Tips for Starting A-Levels

I know you're supposed to practice what you preach but from the lessons I have learnt, this will definitely help! However, I'm that sort of person at the start of the year, has all of the folders, brand new equipment and says 'I'm not going to be like last year, I'm going to be really organised'. The reality hits me on the first day and before you know it, I have 3 assignments due in for tomorrow and I am already in a mess and behind. I have thought about some tips that my help to stay on track and make it easier.

1. Planner/Diary
Having a planner/diary helps you to visualise what needs to be done really easy rather than having to guess what you have to do and then mixing up all of the dates. I use my diary quite often so that I can see what needs to be done first and what I have to do. Another thing I have felt useful is having a weekly planner on a wall so that I can see what needs to be done that week or what I have coming up to try and work around the activity. (Remember to stay organised!)

2. Enjoy the Subject
If you were unsure with the subject you were choosing because you hadnt done it before or because you needed to do another subject to bump up your studying, make sure you are happy with it. If you aren't enjoying the subject or it isn't what you expected, tell someone soon as they can arrange for something to be done to ensure you are more engaged or maybe even take you out of the subject. If you don't enjoy what you are doing then it's highly likely that you won't put the effort it and then you won't get the results you are hoping for.

3. Take time for Yourself
You may thing you need to always be working in order to keep up. Well, you also need to take a step back every now and again. Working all of the time can lead to a lack in concentration as you have lost the motivation. They can be really stressful and people can often over work themselves and become stressed out (I am one of these). Don't be scared to take a night off or enjoy the weekend because you may actually feel better for it and possibly be more productive.

I hope these tips were helpful/useful.

Have you started A-levels? What advice would you give?

NYX Lip Lingerie - Bedtime Flirt Review

I have only recently bought products from NYX as one of their counters appeared in my local Boots store. I have 3 of the Soft Matte Lip Creams and love them. The scent is lovely and they glide on my lips like butter. They do take a while to dry but they are just a great all round product.

Boots had an offer that if you bought any lip product, you would receive an extra 150 points. I chose this liquid lipstick as I already love the other products from NYX and had heard a few other people talking about so thought that I would give it a try for myself. The only shade from the limited testers they had was Bedtime Flirt - 08. This is a very me shade so had to try it.

I have worn it a couple of times love the shade! The lipstick glides on to the lips, similar to the Soft Matte Lip Creams. However, the applicator is massive and can be slightly tricky to apply the lipstick with. It also takes a while to dry yet when it does dry, it lasts longer than any other normal lipstick which is always a bonus!

I will definitely be trying more from this range as so far, I am really impressed.

Have you tried any NYX products? Have you tried any liquid lipsticks?

Cities I'd Love To Visit

I love travelling to new places and have always been told growing up to get out there and see the world. Cities are the easiest places to get to but that doesn't mean you can't get on local transport to a small village and see local culture.

I was suppose to be going to Venice this summer whilst I was in Italy but I decided I wanted to go to Sorrento instead. This was due to the journey time being much shorter and thought that it would be better to see Venice over a weekend rather than a day. I love Italian food anyway and a trip on a gondola would be a must!

I have been lucky enough to visit Disneyland Paris twice now but havent managed to explore Paris itself. As cliché as it sounds, I'd love to see the Eiffel Tower in person and possibly go up and experience the views from the tower. I'd also love just to explore some of the city's other famous landmarks as well as tour the city at night.

This city seems such a beautiful place in pictures due to the architecture of the buildings as well as the history behind them. I would love to see Park Güell and experience the view of the city. I could maybe even squeeze in a football match/tour.

New York
I always mention New York to my family and it has been ongoing for a number of years. I'd love to visit the Empire State building as well as Times Square. I'm sure a little bit of shopping wouldn't be too bad either but a fair amount of damage to my account may happen!

Where would your top place to visit be?

Blogs to Follow

I thought I would name a few blogs that I enjoy reading to give a taste of the sort of topics I am interested in.

Anna (a.k.a ViviannaDoesMakeup) has recently had a blog revamp as well as a new blog name which I do rate. I have been a reader of her blog for well over a year now. I love how relaxed she is and after watching a few of her videos, you feel as if you can actually hear Anna reading her post to you.

First of all, she is simply stunning! Her style is something I really admire as they can be such simple things but she makes it look really elegant and chic. Her blog is simply amazing! The different tabs allow you to easily navigate around and the interactiveness is incredible... not to mention the photography! Highly recommend her blog.

Me and Holly started out blogs roughly the same time so feel as if we have gone on the little adventure together. More often than not, there is a blog post up at the same time as mine each week and I must be one of the first to have a quick read and see what has been happening. It could either be something beauty related or something that has happened that week as well as something she might be planning on doing. I really enjoy having a look and not knowing what the topic will be for that week. Thumbs up Hol :)

I have been reading Milly's blog for quite some time related to new launches that are happening and always seem tempted. However, the posts I loved the best were her Bump Updates. I admire people who are willing to share really personal things with a large audience as you really are opening up and putting yourself out there. It's been lovely to see little Florence grow and she is adorable!

I hope this gave you a little idea in to what I enjoy reading/following.

Which blogs do you enjoy reading?

What's In My Bag - Sixth Form

At the start of September I will be going into my final year of A-levels. I decided to opt for the sixth form route at it is much easier and quicker to get to as well as knowing peers and staff that would be going making me feel much more comfortable when starting.

I take 4 subjects which are Business, IT, Photography and Sports Leadership. Due to my subjects being mainly computer based, I don't have to carry around massive folders and notepads like others which is quite lucky. However, I do have to take a fair amount with me still such as:

A Notebook
If ever I need to write something down in a certain subject such as notes or something I need to remember for the following lesson, I will pop it in my notebook so I can't forget.

I am visual learner so I prefer to have colours and posters to help me remember things and I love being organised so that I can clearly see what I have planned. The planners that we have aren't the best so I prefer to have my own and chose a layout I prefer rather than struggling with what I'm given.

For exams, you have to write in black so I have always bought black pens as then you aren't trying to find a black pen when doing coursework. (Just makes everything much easier!) As I have already said, I am a visual learner so I always carry coloured pens with me just in case I need to create a poster or write something important down in a different colour to help me. There may be an occasional highlighter as well just in case as well as a Sharpie in case I need to label folders etc.

USB Stick
I have had a few cases this past year where my work has gone missing off the system or I have been forgetful and not saved my work. I have decided to get a USB to prevent it happening and also have a backup. I will be travelling between 2 different buildings so this will be helpful when transferring work over.

Other Bits and Bobs
I am that person that will carry everything for those 'just in case' moments. You will no doubt find plasters, hand sanitiser, medication, mirror, lip balm etc. in my bag as well but thats just the boring stuff.

(All of this can be found in Wilko so it is really affordable!)

What do you carry round in your school bag or just your bag in general?

Skincare Routine

I have always struggled with my skin! When I was younger it was eczema on my arms, around my eyes and behind my knees. Now that I am older I still struggle with eczema but on my hands yet it has calmed down. I now have to deal with acne and I am on medication for it. I have sensitive skin so certain products I have to stay clear of otherwise I end up with a rash and a burning sensation where I have applied it (hence the use of sensitive products!) Anyway, enough of the boring stuff!

As you may have seen from my Boots Haul post, I loved this product from the first use. It is cream and you apply it to a wet face so I use it in the shower and remove it with one of my Liz Earle cleansing cloths to help exfoliate at the same time as taking it off. There is slight tingling sensation but I quite like it as it feels as if it is doing something.

Another one from the boots haul is the Boots own brand Simply Sensitive Day Moisturiser. The big selling point for me was because it had aloe vera in it. I have said before that I use after sun because it has aloe vera in that helps to calm redness in skin. I use this in the day under my makeup and at night once I have removed my makeup and cleansed to prevent my skin from being dry.

I have to admit, I should do a face mask more often than I do. I saw this on offer in Boots so thought I would try it. I chose the detox one as I thought it would be best suited to helping with my skin. I have used this a couple of times now and it helps to reduce the amount of oil on my face and reduces the amount of redness in spots. From the couple of times that I've tried it, I would recommend it.

Do you have a routine or certain products you use to help you skin?

American Chocolate Review

If I choose any form of sweet treat, 99% of the time it will be chocolate related. This is normally along the lines of normal Diary Milk, Peanut M&Ms, Wispa Bites etc. I have seen a fair amount of videos online where people have tried different treats from different countries so thought that I would share my opinions on here.

I know it sounds gross but they remind me off the poop emoji (the one with the smiley face). They come in a bag individually rapped in foil with a little tag out of the top with 'KISSES" written on it. I hadn't tried anything from Hershey before but I know that it is very popular. It is the perfect size as you can fit each piece in your mouth without getting covered in chocolate. They're nice and I enjoy them but I'm not sure I would buy them again as I prefer other chocolate that you can get in the UK much cheaper than these.

I love the the peanut version so when I heard about the peanut butter ones, I was intrigued. I had one just to see if I was going to like them and then couldn't put the bag down! I let it melt rather than crunching it as I want it to last longer and it actually helps the peanut butter inside to melt and intensifies the flavour. I have been trying to prevent myself from eating the whole lot in one go so have had a few each night as a little treat. (I think I have found my new favourite chocolate!)

Have you tried any American Chocolate? What would you recommend trying?
