Christmas Week

I'd just like to say that I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas. Sorry that this post won't be long one but I still wanted to put something up so I thought that I share a few photos leading up to Christmas as well as on the day.

Nottingham Christmas Market.

Me and Holly went to Costa to exchange presents. This resulted in us opening them and Holly making a little collection...

How pretty?!

Christmas Dinner wasn't on the small side. Stuffed.

My presents off Carter.

My presents off my parents and close friends.

My brother Sam's presents off our parents and close friends.

Me and Sam.

Family! Oscar (Nephew), Sam (Brother), Hughie (Nephew) and Me.

The house was starting to fall so we decided to dismantle the house and some kept eating all of the 'cement' (icing).

The Christmas Tag

As this time next week Christmas will already be over, I thought I'd cram in another Christmas related post as it hasn't gone yet! This got me thinking about what I could do and then came across 'The Christmas Tag'. Please feel free to write your favourite question and answer it in the comments.

What is your Favourite Christmas Movie?
My favourite film and the one which makes me feel in the spirit the most would have to be Polar Express. I have always watched this film every Christmas so I have a lot of memories behind this.

Do you Open your Presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas Morning?
Christmas Morning. Me and my brother would go into each others room to see if the other was awake whilst our parents went downstairs to check if Santa had been. Mum would then shout us down and record our reaction and the duration of us opening our presents.

Do you have a Favourite Christmas Memory?
I don't have a favourite but I have a few that are special to me. Although, one thing that does stand out to me is making the sausage rolls which were featured in last weeks post and is something I look forward to doing each year.

Favourite Festive Food?
Chocolate Yule Log! I love chocolate anyway so this may not come as a surprise but I will always have a slice... even if it is 5 hours later after my dinner.

Favourite Christmas Scent?
Cooking. This can be either any baking that I have done ready to offer anyone who comes round or the smell of the roast cooking on Christmas day. The smell of cooking just helps to make it feel more homely and Christmassy.

Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?
The one tradition we have always done in my house is that you are able to open the present that was always put to one side. It would always be a new set of pyjamas. This is due to my Mum filming us every year and she wanted us to have a different set each year and give us a little something to open.

What Tops your Tree?
This year we have changed the theme of our tree. It has been multi-coloured for as long as I can remember. Now that me and my brother are older, we decided that this year the theme would have a change and it was going to be white. The old angel my brother made when he was at nursery has been replaced with a wooden star to link with the rest of the tree.

What’s the Best Part about Christmas for you?
Spending time with family and friends. I am a people person and love having people around me. This time of year is perfect for me as people are coming round to see each other, having a laugh and spending quality time together.

What is your favourite part about Christmas?

Have a wonderful Christmas!

Christmas Cooking: Sausage Rolls

Half way into December, it has now become a tradition to make our own sausage rolls. We use ready-made puff pastry as it is so much quicker and simpler and obviously sausage meat. They don't last very long as they're that nice and even more so when they have just come out of the oven and we have guests round.

Start by laying out the sheets of puff pastry.

Cut the sausages up individually as this will make the next step easier.

Using a knife, score the edge of the sausage as you want to remove the skin keeping the shape.

Lay out the meat into rows and cut the pastry into strips.
You may need to spilt sausages up in order fill the length of the sheet.

Whisk up 1 egg as this will create the glazed effect on the pastry.

Fold over the rows to cover the sausage meat inside.

Place them all onto 1 sheet as there isn't a need to have separate sheets anymore and it makes another step much easier later on.

Using a fork, seal the edges by pressing the 2 ends together.

Glaze the edges where you have just pressed down.
(This is optional as it can be done later)

Using a pizza slicer or  knife, cut the rows to make individual rolls.

Cut the top of the rolls and glaze with the egg.

Place them all onto the tray together to make the process much quicker to cook and place them in the oven for 20 minutes at 230 degrees celsius (FAN).

Voila! Homemade sausage rolls (ish!)

Do you cook a certain recipe that reminds you of Christmas? Do you do something which only happens at Christmas?

Favourite Things About Christmas

I really enjoy this time of year! Not because it's my birthday a few days after  (always a bonus) but the fact I can come home, get all warm and cosy in my pyjamas straight away and have a chilled evening.

I love being around people so Christmas is something that I really enjoy. It just makes things so much better knowing that there's going to be lots of people who you are going to see and always have a laugh with. I love spending quality time with family and great around Christmas as well.

Another thing that I love is how much happier people become. Even though there is rush ensuring everything is sorted in time and you have everything you need, people in general seem to be in a better mood.

I couldn't do this post and not mention the food. If you ask anyone that knows me, they will tell you that I love my food and I have a major sweet tooth so Christmas is perfect for me and gives me a great excuse to eat away.

I love going out and buying the presents, looking around the Christmas markets and finding little decorations to put around the house and for the tree. We have a tradition at mine where we put the tree up with the music on in the background and I love it!

Do you have any traditions that you do? What is your favourite thing to do at Christmas?

Collection Eyes Uncovered - Nude Palette

As you may have seen from last week, I did a review on the W7 - In the Buff Palette. I'm keeping with the palette theme but this will be on the Collection Eyes Uncovered - Nude Palette.

I'd been looking the Urban Decay Naked Basics 2 for a while as I wanted a staple palette that can be used by itself to create a simple eye look or as something I would use on a regular basis by choosing certain shades. The one thing that held me back was the fact they are all matte as I like a simmer just to brighten up your eyes as a highlight colour or simply change a day look to something a little more exciting and wakening. This is where Collection comes in...

I was picking up a new concealer and seeing what else was around and this caught my eye. I swatched it on the back of my head and was really pleased. 1. Because there was not a black as this never gets used. 2. There are two options for a highlight shade as there is a matte and a shimmer depending on the look you are creating. The final bonus was the price!

I would high recommend this as it had been it my makeup bag for months and its always something I pull out or find myself using on a regular basis.

W7 In The Buff - Natural Nudes Palette Review

If you're a bit of a beauty lover, you will have heard of the Urban Decay Naked Palettes. I have the Naked 3 and don't get me wrong, it is really good quality and good for the price but it isn't a palette to go for if you're on a budget. This is where this palette comes in!

This palette is the W7 In The Buff - Natural Nudes Palette. It is considered to be the dupe for the Naked 2 palette. I have moved from a pink toned kinda gal to a more golden/bronze/brown kinda gal. I love the colours and ticks all the boxes for me. Its great if you're wanting to experiment with different shades or of you just want something that has all the colours you are wanting altogether. I paid just under £5 for this but look around as certain sites charge more than other for the exact same product.

You're probably thinking, how does it compare? If you look at the swatches, it is great for such an affordable product but it doesn't reach the high standards that the naked palettes have. However, to say how cheap it was, I was really surprised how good it is.

Have you tried the Urban Decay Naked Palettes? Have you tried the W7 dupes?
Are you now tempted?

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

I picked this up a few weeks ago and have been giving it a test. I have sensitive skin so I was fairly apprehensive as to wether this would bring me out in a rash. Anyway, I decided to take the risk and to actually try it.

I still use my simple wipes to remove my makeup as I prefer to take the majority off first and then go in with a deeper cleanse which is what I use this for. I soak my cotton pad with this and wipe it all across my face and it horrifies me to see what has been left on my face even though I thought I’d ‘taken it all off’.

Where some people may think that a cleanser will take everything out of your skin in order to feel clean, this leaves a fair amount of moisture in my skin and leave it hydrated.

I highly recommend this product and it isn't that expensive which is a great bonus!

Have you tried the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water before? What did you think of it?

Mini Christmas Wish List

Every year once Halloween passes, I go on the countdown to Christmas. (It’s now only 46 days!) I thought I would give you a little insight as to what I have on my list and maybe give you a few ideas if you are a little stuck if people as you.

This watch wasn’t the original one I’d had my eye on. Back in March, I’d seen this watch, still Olivia Burton, on the selfridges website as it was exclusive to them. When I went to check last month if it was still available, it wasn’t. I then had to start looking again and came across this one. Although I still prefer the other one, I thought that this was a very close second.

Each time I go into MAC I end up testing either lipsticks or eyeshadows eyeing up my next purchase. I always seem to pick out the same shades but the most common one is Mehr. Clearly I like this shade and probably should either buy it or keep it on the list.

I’ve heard many people within the beauty blogging community talk about this product and how it is the best ever highlighter. I’ve never had anything from theBalm before so thought this would be the ideal product to try from them to get an idea.

I love Pandora jewellery! I have two bracelets with a variety of charms and two rings. I think that the quality is amazing and I have never been left unsatisfied with any of their products. I saw this ring on their site and instantly fell in love. It is more of a statement piece compared to my other rings which was one of the reasons why I can justify having another ring. It is so simplistic yet adds that extra detail.

I have been on the hunt for a matte brown that doesn't look too dark yet I don't want something that looks as if I haven't done anything when doing my eye makeup. Each time I go into MAC, I always seem to pick this up which clearly shows that I like it and I think will be a staple in my collection.

Are you excited for Christmas? Have you already started to make a list?

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed

Halloween Special Effects Makeup

As it is halloween this weekend, I thought that I would do a related post. I know it has passed but I thought that it would be appropriate this week as it is official this weekend and many halloween themed events have happened or are happening.

This year, I ended up doing mine and Carter’s makeup the same. He’d asked me to do his for a party and follow a tutorial on youtube that he liked. He wanted to create burns as the idea was a zombie police officer. We had a trial to see if I could do it and to see if it looked worth doing. I did it on him arm first as we didn't know if the blood would end up staining the skin and look really daft.

The video said we had to layer on toilet paper with a layer of glue in between, put foundation on top to blend it in with your skin, apply a black eyeshadow to create the burned effect and obviously apply the fake blood over the top to finish it off.

On Friday night, I did both of our make as Carter was off to a party and I was going to a halloween scare fest. We decided we both wanted it on our face so it would be seen better and I was really pleased with the outcome.

What did you do for halloween?
